Poetry simplified is an interplay of words, rhythm, and thought. When ideas and imagery are poetically illuminated they offer an emotional clarity and reveal depth of truth. In King David’s day, poets gave language to the prayers and praises of God’s people as musicians spontaneously translated them into psalms. The Greek word for Psalms is Psalmoi. It means “poems sung to the accompaniment of musical instruments”. Over 8600 verses of the Bible are poetry which is nearly 27% of all scripture. Writing poetry is one of the ways God has given us to acknowledge Him and process life. The Poet’s Pen, poetic even in its title, is for the one who desires to worship in such depth of heart, clarity of mind, and simplicity of devotion.
